Nauru

The Island was occupied by the Japanese during WWII. I saw the old Harbor and many bunkers scattered around the Island. The main road and only asphalted road is a ring road around Island. There are a few smaller poor roads crisscrossing the center of the Island, but not much to see apart from the now closed and infamous detention center where Nauru in an agreement with Australia arranged a deal to keep many of Australias illegal immigrants and refugees for over ten years. I decided to make the most of my visit by chartering a Deepsea fishing boat and head out off the coast and try my luck at just that. It is also a great way to see the Island from the waterfront.
